ERA Chair holder Kaspar Valgepea gave a talk at the EMBL Conference: Biological Solutions for the Global CO2 Challenge

EMBL

ERA Chair and group leader Kaspar Valgepea gave the talk “Systems biology of acetogen gas fermentation” at the EMBL Conference: Biological Solutions for the Global CO2 Challenge held in Heidelberg, Germany during 3rd-4th of June 2019. The conference was co-organised by EMBL and HeidelbergCement and focused on the current state-of-the-art of using biological systems for tackling CO2 emissions. Both leading industry – LanzaTech, Evonik, ElectroAchaea, Solar Foods – with either already commercial or near-commercial processes and academic groups focusing on various approaches – gas fermentation, natural and artificial photosynthesis, non-natural C1-fixation – presented their latest progress. Also relevant science and policy talks were included that provided important input for both the industry and academia for disseminating their work more efficiently.
